Joseph Allen & Sons Straight Razor
$125.00
This Joseph Allen & Sons straight razor was made in Sheffield England in the late 1800s. It has a quarter hollow ground 5/8 blade with a barber's notch and very little tarnish. It is their well known NON-XLL model. The razor has been cleaned, polished, and honed and comes to you shave ready with no need for an initial stropping.
I've included a pre-restoration photo of the razor, this is no indication of what the razor currently looks like!
The razor's scales are original and in very nice condition. A Joseph Allen & Sons coffin box is included.
Joseph Allen (1829 - 1893) was the son of a sickle maker and himself trained as a razor smith in about 1851. By 1881 J. Allen & Sons employed over 60 people. They acquired the NON-XLL (none excel) trademark in 1883 and began stamping that on all of their straight razors and cutlery. They developed a deserved reputation for high quality hollow ground straight razors.
