This Shumate Cutlery Co. straight razor is an American made half hollow ground, 5/8, square point razor. The blade has very little tarnish and is in great shape. The scales are embossed with a very nice and intricate peacock. There is some minor wear on the scales but they are actually in very nice shape.
The razor has been honed and stropped and comes to you shave ready.
It was made between 1900 and 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
In 1900 the company was dealing in cutlery and was renamed The Shumate Razor Company. Sometime between 1904 and 1906 the company relocated to St. Louis, Missouri where it was known as the Shumate Cutlery Co. They manufactured and sold high-quality razors from 1900 until 1932. Their razors popular among collectors and users for the quality of the steel and their ability to hold an edge.
